Mangalore: 'Yakshagana Kalanidhi' Title for Mijar Annappa

Mangalore, Sep 5: Speaking to reporters on Thursday September 5, director of the Academy of Thenkuthittu Yakshagana, Sharavu Krishna Bhat said that the Academy has decided to confer 'Yaksha Kalanidhi' title to veteran Yakshagana artiste Mijar Annappa.

Annappa, who has served the Thenkuthittu form of Yakshagana for nearly 70 years, will be felicitated by the district-in-charge minister J Krishna Palemar on Saturday September 6 and conferred with the said title, at a function to be held at the Town Hall here. The function will be attended by Alva's Education Foundation chairman Dr Mohan Alva, art critic Eshwaraiah and City Corporation joint commissioner Ajit Kumar Hegde in the capacity of chief guests, he explained.
